Our Stock # 18.7775
This is a large antique decorative ammonite on plinth. An English, fossilised geological ornamental fossil, dating to the Edwardian period and much, much earlier.
Ammonites evolved in the ocean between 240,000,000 - 65,000,000 years ago and faced extinction alongside the dinosaurs. Ammonite comes from the Greek god Ammon, and was an ancient relative of modern cephalopods such as squid, nautilus and cuttlefish.

- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Nautilus and several worms fossilised within the ammonite
- Attractive natural graphite coloured hues and fine tonality
- Presented with a pleasingly faceted reverse
- Stands upon a circular, ebonised wooden base with gently chamfered edges
This is a captivating antique decorative ammonite, with millions of years of natural history and early 20th century presentation. Sure to appeal to the geologist or collector of natural artefacts. Delivered polished and ready to display.
