This is an antique admiral's writing station. An English, walnut and brass desktop correspondence or stationery case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
- Superb craftsmanship with a delightfully practical nature and excellent form
- Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
- Select walnut stocks present fine grain interest, with warm caramel hues
- The distinguished bookmatched fascia being particularly fetching
- Fall front cabinet, dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
- Opening to reveal a suite of arcaded pigeon holes, lidded pen tray and a skiver
- Finished in dark blue leather, the skiver is tooled and embossed with some gentle ageing
- Replete with a pair of glass ink wells and two calligraphy pens
- Graced with a protective baize cushion to the base
