This is an antique surveyor's theodolite. An English, brass instrument in oak case by Troughton and Simms of London, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
- Wonderfully complete and comprehensive surveyor's instrument set within a quality case
- Displays a desirable aged patina with light weathering commensurate with age
- Patinated brass shows appealing dark tonality, with contrasting knurled vernier adjustments
- Large compass to the centre of the stand, with cardinal and intercardinal points
- Modular construction, with four main pieces - Level, sight, compass base and stand
- Finely annotated throughout with measuring marks
- Engraved for a C.I. Elton upon the upstand with naive H.G.S to the scope wheel
- Compass face reads 'Troughton & Simms, London'
