This is a vintage pair of decorative bookends. An English, Portland stone book rest, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.
- Pleasingly robust forms with appealing WW2 period emblem
- Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
- Crafted from Portland Stone with a tasteful cream hue
- Portland stone was used extensively in London at the time of 1941
- Each end hosting a cast medallion of George slaying the dragon
- Engraved with London, 1941 - the final few months of the Blitz
- Given the nature of the time period, these bookends may be crafted from salvaged material
- Dressed to the base with a green protective baize
