This is an antique handpainted writing box. An English, cedar desktop pen case, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.

Charming desktop pen case, ideal for the clerk or scholar
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Handpainted in a faux marquetry manner, with foliate decor
Cedar stocks present light biscuit hues to the interior
Lid opening upon a pair of small brass hinges
